Vicky Twomey-Lee, a techie who has been involved with the Irish Tech Community since 2005, and currently advocates diversity in tech through Coding Grace, PyLadies Dublin as well as being involved with many other initiatives including WITS Ireland.

She was awarded the Community Spirits Award by the Python Software Foundation as well as one of the first EuroPython Society Fellows awardees. She’s involved with the Python Software Foundations Grants Working Group, was a past board member of The EuroPython Society and has helped with EuroPython’s Code of Conduct and Financial Aid teams. She is also part of the PyLadiesCon organising team who runs an annual global online community conference.

Closer to home (and how it all started), Vicky was one of the main Python Ireland organiser from 2005 to 2016, and chaired their first four PyCon Irelands,

Not only does she have interests in tech and being very involved with the Irish tech scene, she also ran community game jams as part of GameCraft Foundation, and really enjoys bringing the growing Irish indie community together under one roof creating diverse games. As one of the first Maker Advocates for Dublin Maker for a couple of years, she still continues to promote the Maker culture and communities (and trying to complete her own Maker projects).

As QQI certified Creative Trainer, she is bringing together her collective experiences from the tech, games and maker worlds to run and collaborate on creative technology-related events and projects.

She founded Irish born Chinese community group in 2002 as a way to connect to her peers. She is currently on the board of Cantonese in Ireland committee, and feels absolutely delighted to represent the next generation Irish born Chinese, and help contribute to cultural exchange of the Cantonese language and its heritage.
